The Right Essential Oils for Common Skin Care Challenges*

Aromatic oils have been used for thousands of years for their amazing fragrance but also for their culinary, therapeutic, ritualistic, spiritual and related purposes.

Never use any essential oils without advice from an expert in the safe use of oils.

Over time certain oils have been found to be very therapeutic for a range of skin care challenges. I have included a general list below for reference.

This list may include the most common oils, but may not include all.


Dry skin: Everlasting, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, rose, rosemary, vetiver, ylang ylang.

Oily skin: Bergamot, chamomile (Roman), clary sage, cypress,everlasting, geranium, juniper. lemon, lemongrass, myrrh, neroli, rosemary, yarrow, ylang ylang.

Puffy: Cypress, juniper, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, petigram

Sensitive: Chamomile (German or Roman), clary sage, lavender, neroli, rose, sandalwood, yarrow

Wrinkled: Carrot seed, everlasting, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, juniper, lemon, myrrh, palmarosa, patchouli, rose, rosemary, rosewood, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang.
